Apart from the opportunity to see a wide variety of work from around the Asia Pacific region on show in an extensive exhibition, AdFest offers a lot more. As the opening date nears, the organisers are releasing details of their programme for the 4-day festival.

Anyone who has attended this event in recent years will aware that one of the highlights is the screening of the winners of the ‘Fabulous Four’. Emerging commercial film directors are invited to submit scripts and the chosen four then go ahead to produce and shoot their idea. This year, the scripts were based on the Festival’s theme of ‘Transform’.

The selected directors, the Fabulous Four, for AdFest 2018 are: Haruna Kaizuka, from AOI Pro. Inc. in Tokyo, Huixin Law, from Reservoir World Snd Bhd in Kuala Lumpur, Shuhei Murata, from Pyramid Film Quadra Inc. in Tokyo and Thuy Vy, from The Directors Group in Melbourne. They will currently be filming and editing in preparation to the presentation of the finished short film in Pattaya on 22nd March. This is part of Craft@AdFest.

Over the programme for the two streams, Craft@AdFest and Creative@AdFest, there is a formidable line up of speakers and presentations. Kem Suraphongchai, Festival Director, said this will be the strongest line up in the Festival’s 21-year history.

Look out for Finch’s Greg Attwells session entitled ‘Female Creative Technologists Are Going to Save the World’. ‘Digital Darwinism’ is the subject of a presentation by Barry Greaves from MPC Shanghai. He will be covering character creation in advertising. Veteran ad man, Rob Sherlock along with Chris Gurney will be presenting another popular annual series ‘ADK Presents Young Lotus Workshop’. The theme for 2018 is ‘You Are What You Consume’. Paul Kemp-Robertson from Contagious will be returning to highlight some trends. Another session not to be missed. There are many more fascination presentation given by leaders in the communications business.
