Only one floor was operational after an extensive renovation but Suntec Exhibition and Convention Centre Singapore managed to stage ad:tech once more. This show, which is now No. 1 in its field in most cities, attracted 2,200 delegates to Singapore on 13th-14th June and showed a healthy growth in exhibitors and sponsors. There were excellent presentations during the two days. The first Keynote presentation was by Harper Reed, Founder of Harper Rules, LLC. He gave an amusing and informative presentation but those who were at the recent The Festival of Media Asia complained that his inside story on the Obama social media campaigns was just a repeat performance. Anthony Hearne, Regional Manager, Asia of Outbrain following up did an excellent job of highlighting the importance of content and how best to get value from it.
‘The Agency Is Dead’ was the provocative title of the presentation by Michael de Souza, General Manager, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam of Mobext. This clear and calm dissection of our ad industry probably shook a few people up. If you missed these presentations, you can read the adaption soon to appear in AdAsia.
The conference offered a good range of topics and sometimes it was hard to choose which of the breakout sessions to attend. Sadly, the feature ‘Search For The ad:tech Singapore 2013 Start Up Superstar – The Pitches’ was left to last and not highlighted enough. This is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch their idea to a panel of judges and the audience. Sadly, this session was not well attended. AdAsia suggests this interesting segment is given more prominence in future events.
ad:tech offers a great opportunity to learn and network. Not an event to be missed. The organiser is dmg::events.
