Portfolio Night is a global event which happens simultaneously in participating cities. On this night, hopeful young creatives get to show their portfolio of work to agency creative directors. They receive advice and may even land a job. It works on the speed dating principle – a limited amount of time face to face with a CD and then that writer or art director has to move on to another top creative person.
In Singapore on 21st May 2014, it was the turn of Bates Chi & Partners to host the event and invite the CDs from various agencies to attend. Thirty-two agreed to come. There was no shortage of young creative wanting to get their work critiqued, in fact it was 50% over subscribed.
Bates Chi & Partners added to the fun by creating an Adland Security campaign with a website and airport security type posters. The CDs formed the Adland Border Control team. The agency added a gourmet food truck (serving truffle fries along with other tasty treats) and a flow of beer and organic wines from Sicily.
The best portfolio was judged to be from Cheryl Chu from NAFA and so she wins a trip to NYC to work on a real client brief.
