The Australian image library, Photolibrary has been acquired by Getty Images. This means content currently held by Photolibrary such as Peter Arnold and Oxford Science will be available through Getty Images. It is not yet clear if Getty will retain the Oz library as a separate entity or swallow it up.

Photolibrary was established in Singapore under the leadership of Reeta Sabnani who had previously set up the original Getty Images office in the Republic. Photolibrary has continued to grow in this region under the guidance of the personable Matthew Howden and has been successful in India, the Middle East and other parts of Southeast Asia. The other contender in the image library business, Corbis, shut the Singapore office some time back to concentrate on other Asian markets.

Getty Images has moved on from the days of still images and expanded into footage and multimedia products including music.
