Research by Getty Images has shed light on how photography is being used today. These insight have come from newly redesigned ‘The Curve: Technology and Telecommunications’, a multi-media research report on visual trends shaped by the democratisation of technology and the rise of social media. The recently launched The Curve is the first of a series and focuses on social photography. The next will be on cloud and content management and the final one, to be released in June, will digest trends for distinct demographic segments and geographies.

In this first release, Getty shows how social photography is altering the meaning of photography and greatly affects how brands have utilised imagery to develop impactful and engaging campaigns. The growing use of the smartphone as a camera is highlighted. You can go online to see the first issue of ‘The Curve: Technology and Telecommunications’ at
