Nielsen’s quarterly Global AdView Pulse reports that global advertising spend continued to rise after the strong finish to 2011 resulting in Quarter 1 showing a 3.1% increase. The global ad spend in that quarter topped US$128 billion.

The positive outcome was because of growth in Middle East and Africa (23.3%) and Latin American (9.6%) lifting the poor figures from Europe. Asia-Pacific was a bit disappointing at 1.7% after the large gains in recent years.
