LinkedIn appoints new Managing Director for Asia Pacific
Digital social network for professionals, LinkedIn, has appointed Hari Krishnan as Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan. He succeeds Arvind Rajan who has moved to the role of Managing Director and Vice President, New Markets. Krishnan joined LinkedIn in 2009 as its first employee in Asia Pacific. There are now 350+ employees and ten offices in the region.
Getty Images appoints Sales Manager, Hong Kong
Getty Images has announced the appointment of Claudia Lee as Sales Manager in Hong Kong. Lee moves from Corbis where she was Group Account Manager. Prior to that, she gained ten year’s experience in account manager within Apple Daily, South China Media, AMY Magazine and New Monday Magazine.
Aegis Media promotes Sethumadhavan
Arvind Sethumadhavan, who was Social and ROI Analytics Practice Leader for Isobar APAC, has taken on a new role as Chief Innovation Officer at Aegis Media Asia Pacific. He has been with the group for eighteen months. He will remain based in the regional office in Singapore.
Two new appointments for Ogilvy Singapore
Ogilvy & Mather Singapore has appointed two new people.
Oscar Prats has joined as Managing Director for OgilvyOne. He has been with the Ogilvy group for 25-years and moves from Ogilvy Group Spain where he was Vice President and CEO of Advertising. There he worked on IBM and American Express as well a as local clients such as Telefonica.
Also joining Ogilvy Singapore is Steve Wall. He becomes Head of Planning. He moves from AMV-BBDO in the USA where he was working most recently on the Blackberry business. Prior to that, he was with JWT USA and BBH, London and Singapore.
Both join the agency in mid-January.
New MD for Lowe Thailand
Dan Zonmani has been appointed Managing Director of Lowe Thailand. He has experience on both the client and agency side of the business. He has held senior roles in Lintas, Batey/Red Cell, BBDO Bangkok and most recently he was MD of Far East DDB. Zonmani also worked for Seagram for several years in marketing. He was at one time Country Manager for the World Gold Council. He is an active committee member of the Advertising Association of Thailand and has been involved with AdFest and Adman. Zonmani will report to Jeremy Hine, CEO of Lowe Thailand.
PHD Singapore appoints Strategy Lead
John Gamvros has been appointed Global Head of Content and Digital Strategy at PHD Singapore, working on the Unilever Global Communications Planning account. He will be part of a 10-member team handling this business out of Singapore. Gamvros is no stranger to the Omnicom Media Group, having spent seven years at OMD Australia where he was a founding member of Fuse, OMD’s branded content arm. His most recent appointment was Regional Planning Director at Saatchi & Saatchi, based in Singapore.
Cheil appoints Head of Global Retail
Cheil Worldwide Inc., which has its headquarters in South Korea, has appointed Diana Cawley as Head of Global Retail. Cawley moves from Arc in London where she was Managing Director. Arc is part of the Leo Burnett group. Prior to that, she was with Triangle Group London for 16 years which included a 6-year stint in retail agency Storm as MD. She has been in the advertising business for 26 years and worked on clients such as Bosch, Coca-Cola, P&G, McDonald’s, Samsung, Kraft and Tesco.
In her new role, Cawley will strengthen Cheil’s retail capability across the global network through shopping insights and creative thinking.
She will report to Michael Kim, the COO of Cheil Worldwide.
New MD for Out There Media
Mobile advertising specialists, Out There Media, has appointed Gerald Smith as Managing Director in Asia Pacific. With more than 15 years of experience in Europe and Asia, he has spent the last seven in this region. He joins from Endemol where he was responsible for setting up their digital business across Asia.
Love of Omnicom to retire
Tim Love, Vice Chairman and CEO Asia Pacific/India/Middle East/Africa for the Omnicom Group has returned to the corporate headquarters in New York and will retire from Omnicom at the end of the first quarter. Love has had a 40-year career in advertising and branding building. Prior to becoming the Vice Chairman in 2006, he was President of Global Clients at TBWA Worldwide.
Chiew gets promoted at Iris Singapore
Following the departure of Subha Naidu to the New York office, Iris Singapore has promoted Clarence Chiew, to the role of Creative Director. He has been with agency for 18 months as Deputy creative Director. Grant Hunter remains Regional Creative Director looking after regional business of the agency.
Prior to that, Chiew was an Associate Creative Director at JWT Singapore. He was with JWT for five years, working his way up from Senior Copywriter. In his earlier career, he worked at 10AM and Crush.
Starcom promotes Somanathan
Starcom MediaVest Group has promoted Ranganathan Somanathan to Chief Operating Officer for Southeast Asia. He will cover divisions including Starcom, MediaVest, Spark Communications and LiquidThread across six key SEA markets. Prior to taking this newly created role, Somanathan led VivaKi Malaysia, which included SMG and Optimedia Malaysia. He has been with the Group for more than a decade. He will be based now in Singapore and report to Jeffrey Seah, VivaKi’s Country Chair for Southeast Asia.
