The Omnicom Media Group has appointed Sunee Paripunna as the CEO in Thailand. She joins Omnicom from MEC Thailand where she had been Managing Director for the past six year. Prior to that Paripunna was the Executive Director for Starcom in Thailand, leading the P&G account.


Owen Smith

Smith gets promotion

BBDO Greater China has promoted Owen Smith to Head of Planning in BBDO South China. This is a newly-created role. Smith has been with the group since 2007 after transferring from BBDO New York. Initially he was placed in Shanghai and worked on FedEx, Chrysler, Air New Zealand, PepsiCo and other business. In 2010, he became Regional Planning Director at BBDO Hong Kong where he worked on strategic planning for the Mars/Wrigley portfolio.


Miranda Cheung

New leader for Ipsos Malaysia

Miranda Cheung, who has been leading the Ipsos office in Singapore as Country Manager since 2005 is to join the Malaysian office in the same role. Research company, Ipsos, was founded in France in 1975 and is now in 84 countries. Ipsos took over Synovate in 2011.


Subhash Pinnapola

Top creative man joins TBWATAL

Subhash Pinnapola has been appointed Chief Creative Officer of TBWATAL in Sri Lanka. Pinnapola has previously worked at Ogilvy & Mather, JWT, Lowe and Leo Burnett. In a career extending over twenty years, he has won awards at Cannes, Spikes Asia, AdFest, and several other shows. He is highly regarded by the Sri Lankan advertising industry for his knowledge of the people and culture of the country.


Ricardo Adolfo

Adolfo joins O&M Japan

Ricardo Adolfo has been appointed Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather Japan GK. This award-winning creative man, moved to Japan in 2012 and has been working as a consultant International Creative Director for agencies such as Hakuhodo, Mori Inc. and Projector. He was previously based in Amsterdam at DDB International and 180 Amsterdam. Adolfo is also one of the leading voices of the Portuguese contemporary literature.


SPH Marketing Division makes changes

The Display Advertisements sales team has been renamed Integrated Sales and the current Head of Display Advertisements, Elsie Chua has been re-designated as Head, Integrated Sales.

Geoff Tan, Head of Strategic Marketing Department at SPH will oversee three other departments as Head of Creative Services, Product Branding & Promotions as well as the Special Projects Unit.

Tan Ooi Boon who previously led the Customer Service department at SPH Marketing is now heading up the CATS Classified division, now reamed Print Classified.

Amy Ho has been appointed the new Head of Customer Service.

Lawrence Wong, previously sales head of ST701 has been given the role of Head of International Sales, taking over Amy Ho’s previous job.

Tan Su Lin who was the Head of CATS Classified, has been appointed Deputy Head of a new Digital division.

Edward Tang will continue as Head of SPHMBO, the out-of-home business.


PHD Australia ends restructure with new promotions

In Australia, PHD media agency has been restructuring itself around three hubs – Communications Planning, Investment Planning and Business Planning. Peter Hunter has been promoted to the newly-created role of national Head of Business Planning. He was previously Head of Digital. This now places him in the national Executive team. He is joined there by People & Development Director, Erin Jakubans who recently joined PHD from the Omnicom Media Group in NZ.

PHD Strategy Director, Stewart Gurney has been promoted to the overall agency Leadership Team and takes up the newly-created role of Head of Communications Planning in Sydney.

Promotion for Buenaventura in Y&R

Mary Buenaventura has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, Y&R Philippines, succeeding Chiqui Lara, who stays on as President, Y&R Philippines. Buenaventura has been with the agency for a decade most recently as Chief Operating Officer. She moved to the agency from Burson Marsteller. Her earlier agency experience was with clients such as Novartis, Nortel Networks, Pepsi, Kimberly Clark and Unilever.


SpotXchange appoints Regional Manager

Video advertising platform, SpotXchange has appointed Sujen Selva as Regional Manager for Southeast Asia. He will be based in Singapore and report to Matt Von der Muhll, MD for SpotXchange, Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining SpotXchange, Selva held the role of Social Specialist at Adconion Australia, where he launched the social media platform for the company and managed its operations and development.

Creative duo for Dentsu Philippines

Two new Joint Executive Creative Directors will lead the Dentsu Philippines’ teams from mid-February. Gary Amante and Rey Tiempo have been working together for seven years on accounts such as Johnson & Johnson, Pepsico, FedEx, Pizza Hut, P&G and Mitsubishi Motors. Their ‘Persistent Headache’ series for Bayer got into The Gunn Report list of the top 50 ads in the world, and they have a string of awards to their names. They join Ted Lim, Chief Creative Officer, in the Dentsu network which is working hard to strengthen its creative leadership.


Gregory Ho

Ho moves over to Turner International

Gregory Ho has been appointed Chief Communications and Marketing Executive at Turner International covering the Asia Pacific region. He will work closely with Ricky Ow, President of Turner International Asia Pacific. Ho moves from Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia where he was Vice President and Head of Public Relations. Earlier on in his career, he was VP and GM at Animax Asia and also worked at CNBC Asia/Asia Business news in various roles. He started his professional life in broadcasting at MediaCorp Radio in 1992.


Lucy Hurst

BBDO Singapore hires Planning Director

Lucy Hurst has moved from WPP London agency, Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe & Saint / Y&R (pity the poor telephone receptionist!) where she worked on accounts such as LG, Danone, Innocent, Revlon. BBC and Marks & Spencer. Hurst joins BBDO Singapore as Planning Director. She will work with Andy Wilson, BBDO’s Head of Planning.
