Chu joins CNN sales team
CNN has appointed Ann Chu as Director – Partner Solutions Group, CNN Advertising Sales Asia Pacific. She will be based in Hong Kong reporting to VP William Hsu. In her early career, Chu worked for MTV Asia and Dreamworks in Los Angeles. She joined CNN in the newsroom more than a decade ago, writing and producing award-winning programmes. She was most recently the Executive Director of CNN Broadcast Sales and Affiliate Relations.
Sony appoints Dumlao in Philippines
Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia has appointed James Dumlao as Director of Business Operations in the Philippines. He will be based in Manila. Dumlao has been a consultant to various companies for the past two years. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of the Asiaphil Group and early was with Pilipino Cable Corp as Director of Marketing.
Y&R Malaysia promotes Tay
After two years as Creative Group Head, Joshua Tay has been promoted to Associate Creative Director at Y&R Malaysia. He originally joined the agency as an Art Director in 2007.
He has been awarded in the local Kancil and the regional AdFest shows plus gaining two Silvers in the Andy Awards and the ‘In-book’ prize at the D&AD for illustration.
iris India appoints Sen as CD
Award-winning creative man, Anirban Sen has joined iris India as Creative Director. Previously, he was at TBWA, McCann Erickson, Grey, Lowe and Saatchi & Saatchi. Sen will work on accounts such as Sony Mobile, Coca-Cola, Shell and Dell. In 2010, Sen’s creative ranking was no. 19 in India.
PHD Malaysia strengthens digital services
Kenneth Wong has been appointed Associate Digital Director at PHD Malaysia. He moves from ITL where he was involved in Marketing and Communications Planning. Wong has also worked at Interface Advertising, Institute for Consumer Relationship Management, CIMB and Celecom Axiata Berhad Online. He has won 3 EFFIE awards.
Appointment to Starcom MediaVest Group
Alfred Cheng has been appointed Regional Director based in Hong Kong. He moves from MEC Hong Kong where he was Deputy General Manager, a role he held since 1997. He has worked at various agencies including Ogilvy & Mather and DMB&B. He will report to Bertilla Teo, CEO of Greater China at Starcom MediaVest Group.
Fulford PR restructures
Linda Fulford, the founder and Managing Director of Fulford Public Relations, has taken up a new role in the parent company brandRapport’s UK headquarters in London. This means the day-to- day operations will be headed jointly by Directors Eileen A. Chua and Ronda Ng Doswell. Both will work with the newly appointed Regional Head for Asia, Ross Collett, based in Hong Kong. Fulford had been in Asia for 18 years and run Fulford PR for thirteen years.
TBWA reorganises its digital services
TBWA has unified it global digital operations. TBWATequilaHong Kong now sees Tequila joining TBWADigital Arts Network (DAN). This group encompasses over 700 digital specialists and will be rolled out initially in eighteen markets.
TBWA’s E-Graphics production house in Dalian, China will also become part of DAN. In Hong Kong, DAN will be led by Luke Eid, Head of Digital. The Hong Kong office will also launch Social Media Arts (SMARTS) designed to service clients across Greater China. This will be led by Jocelyn Liipfert, Head of Social Media for TBWAHong Kong.
New managing director for MediaVest Thailand
Starcom MediaVest Group has appointed Somyot Chairat as Managing Director for MediaVest Thailand. He was more recently Managing Director of Publicis Thailand. Prior to that, he was with McCann Worldgroup in Indonesia and Universal McCann in Thailand.
In all, he has had more than 20 years of experience in advertising and media communications.
Schlick joins Thoughtful Media
Thoughtful Media Group in China has appointed Tim Schlick as Senior Vice President, Strategy & Market Development, Asia Pacific. The USA company entered the Chinese market in 2010. Schlick, who originated in Germany, started his career as a Management Consultant at Accenture then moved to McCann Erickson where he launched its digital agency Zentropy Partners. He subsequently launched and managed McCann Momentum in Germany in 2006. He relocated to Shanghai in 2010 as Head of Strategic Planning, Greater China, at DDB Group.
New planning director for R/GA Singapore
Christer Eriksson has joined R/GA as Regional Planning Director in the Singapore office. He moves from Razorfish Singapore where he was Regional Strategy Director. Prior to that, he was with The Upper Storey, Tribal DDB in Singapore, Hong Kong and China and Euro RSCG. Eriksson was born in Malaysia and grew up in Asia.
Grace takes over helm at Leo Burnett Singapore
When John Kyriakou leaves for a period of recuperation due to health problems, his place as Managing Director will be taken by Josh Grace who was Chief Operating Officer at the agency in Sydney. Grace joined Leo Burnett in Sydney in 2004. Prior to that, he was at direct agencies including Cartwright Williams and Wunderman. Grace is a two time winner of World Championships in sailing and represented Australia at the 2000 Olympic Games.
OMD Melbourne promotes two
OMD has expanded its management team in Melbourne, Australia. Margie Reid, former Head of Trading has been promoted to General Manager and Matt Mills has been promoted to Business Director & Head of Communications Planning.
