Since it set up in Singapore in 2011, LinkedIn has doubled its membership in the Republic. This covers 70% of the country’s labour force and student population. The worldwide network of professionals now has one million members in Singapore. Globally there are 200 million members. In fact, globally, the network attracts more than two new members every second.

The Singapore office is the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters and it now has 90 employees.

Naturally, LinkedIn is pleased with reaching the million mark in Singapore. “This milestone is particularly significant for us at LinkedIn because it means that over one million members in Singapore are seeing the value that LinkedIn is adding to their professional lives,” said Hari Krishnan, Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan. Krishnan has been with LinkedIn for many years and started the office in India.

As those of us who are already on LinkedIn are aware, the company continues to develop in new areas. LinkedIn has revealed Singapore’s Power Profile list of the 40 top-viewed LinkedIn profiles in their industry. In the advertising industry, Jason Kuperman, CEO of Omnicom Digital Asia Pacific is heading the list. Are the head hunters sniffing around Mr Kuperman, we wonder?

The top five industries covered by LinkedIn are Information Technology & Services, Banking, Financial Services, Oil & Energy and Education Management.
