International digital communications specialists, Reading Room has been running a series of talks in its Tanjong Pagar offices in Singapore. It was a full house on the 26th September when the agency had three speakers covering the topic of user experience.
Foong Pin Sym, Instructor at NUS, Department of Communications and New Media, spoke on the theories of persuasion and the role of technology. She explained how behaviours can be changed. Following was Bojan Blecic, VP and Head of Experience Design at OCBC, a major local bank. He explained how Experience Design had been implemented at OCBC Bank and gave a number of examples where he and his team had improved the customer experience and saved the bank money. He advised starting with a small project to gain trust internally. Tom Voirol, Global Head of User Engagement at Reading Room, wrapped up the breakfast meeting expanding on user experience mentioning the element of gamification which encourages people to complete tasks. He also touched on ROI and alternative ways to interpret this.
