OMD Thailand accredits Mavichak as Engagement Planning Director

OMD Thailand has announced the appointment of Neil Mavichak as Engagement Planning Director. Mavichak joins the OMD network from McCann Worldgroup in Thailand where he provided solutions in strategic channel/consumer engagement across all McCann’s business units. Mavichak’s appointment is effective immediately.

Rahman hired as Head of Digital, OMD Hong Kong

Tanbir Rahman

OMD Hong Kong has appointed Tanbir Rahman as Head, Digital. Rahman’s responsibilities include leading online initiatives and developing specialised services. Rahman started his digital career in Hong Kong in 1993 and has more than 18 years of experience in the Asian mobile and Internet industry in senior leadership roles.

Since then, Rahman has occupied a variety of senior positions in international digital companies working for blue-chip global clients like Intel, Citibank, and KLM. Prior to joining OMD, Rahman worked on consultancy and research projects for NGOs.

New GM for Intercontinental Bali Resort

Tom Meyer

Australian born, Tom Meyer has almost 30 years experience in the hospitality industry. He has joined International Bali Resort as General Manager and Area General Manager for IHG Bali. Meyer’s first job was with InterContinental Hamburg. Meyer has held senior roles that have taken him from Sydney to Singapore, Manila and Hong Kong since rejoining IHG in 1993. Prior to this appointment, Meyer was in Dubai where he spent several years as Director of Operations and Area General Manager of Dubai Festival City (DFC).

Ma moves to Chief Marketing Officer role for TBWAGreater China

Jeff Ma

TBWA has announced that Jeff Ma is moving from Managing Director to Chief Marketing Officer in TBWAGreater China. The move is effective immediately. Ma, based in Shanghai, will take charge of business development, public relations and marketing & government relations for TBWAGreater China in his new role. Ma was the first General Manager of M&C Saatchi and spent five years in Ogilvy Action before he joined TBWA in mid-2010.

Manulife Singapore appoints Chief Marketing Officer

Manulife (Singapore) Pte Ltd has appointed Hitesh Shah as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. He is responsible for product development and management, customer relationship management, branding and marketing at Manulife Singapore.

He has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, spanning marketing, product management, strategic consulting, mergers & acquisitions and business development. He has worked in the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Asia and for the last 8 years in Singapore. Prior to joining Manulife, Shah worked in Aviva.

New MD of UM and Initiative in Singapore

Pat Lim

Pat Lim has been appointed as Managing Director of both UM and Initiative Singapore, part of the Mediabrands group. Lim is a Singaporean with 20 years of experience across both media and the creative landscape in Asia.

Lim was most recently co-founder of Briq Communications, a full-service media agency in Singapore. Prior to Briq, Lim served as General Manager and Managing Director at PHD from 2005 to 2010. Lim takes the reins of UM and Initiative from Clinton Simpson, who led both agencies for the past two years.

Chow rejoins OMD Hong Kong as GM

Alice Chow

Media specialists, OMD has re-appointed Alice Chow as General Manager for Hong Kong. Chow is familiar with OMD having worked for OMD Hong Kong for over a decade, before moving on to work in China. While she was at OMD, Chow worked on a number of regional accounts such as Visa, McDonald’s, Venetian Macau, ExxonMobil, and also on a wide spectrum of local accounts like MTR Corporation, and Watsons Water.

IAB Singapore appoints David as full-time Executive Director

Ranji David

The Interactive Advertising Bureau Southeast Asia (IAB SE) Singapore Chapter announced the appointment of Ranji David to the role of Executive Director. The Executive Director role will be largely focused on providing current IAB members with greater support and visibility. There are plans to increase the number of IAB networking events and provide much needed digital training courses.

David began her career in marketing communications. She worked in the Tung Lok Group in 1999, and moved to Audi in 2002. She shifted gears and joined recruitment specialists Aquent Partners in 2005. David left Aquent in 2007 for Australian-based Tech & Digital Recruitment Consultancy Xpand Group to support the start-up of the Singapore office, and then joined Global Advertising Headhunters in 2009.

TPR hires Teo as General Manager

Liana Teo

Liana Teo joins TPR, TBWASingapore’s public relations unit, as General Manager. Teo was previously the Regional Manager (Media, Analyst and Influencer Relations) at HP’s Personal Systems Group, Asia Pacific and Japan.

Prior to joining HP, Teo worked in 3Com and before that, was in Shanghai as Vice President of Corporate and Technology practices for global agency Ketchum. She has also worked with MDK, the PR agency within the Batey Group, as Group Client Services Director.

Omnicom Media Group promotes Wong 

Deric Wong

Deric Wong, Omnicom Media Group, Hong Kong’s former Strategic Planning Director has been promoted to Head of Strategy and Insights for the organisation. Wong joined PHD in June 2008, and his role was expanded to cover both OMD and PHD in July 2010 as Strategic Planning Director of Omnicom Media Group, Hong Kong. Wong’s promotion is effective immediately.

Wong will lead the team of Strategic Planning, Insights and Production under Omnicom Media Group, Hong Kong. Further to his local role, Wong will also work at a regional level with a remit that includes that of ETNA (PHD’s proprietary planning approach) champion for PHD Asia Pacific and PHD Greater China.

Regional Director for iProspect

Luke Janich

Luke Janich has been appointed Regional Director of iProspect Singapore. Janich started his career in the USA where he worked with Channeladvisor and GroupM moving to Singapore in 2009 where he was with GroupM and OMD. His most recent role was with Hewlett Packard where he developed and managed search and PPC strategies in the APAC region.

K. Booncharas

OMD Thailand appoints Executive Business Director

Khun Booncharas Kasemsukpasit has been appointed Executive Business Director by OMD Thailand. He will be handling the Krungsri Group, McDonald’s and P.I Snacks. He joins the agency from Mindshare Thailand where he was Executive Director working on skin care, foods and ice cream categories for the Unilever account.

Over her 20 years of experience on both international as well as local accounts, she has worked on accounts such as HP, Subaru, British Airways, Qantas, Haagen Daz, Salvatore Ferragamo etc. Prior to joining Carat, Ong was with Optimedia, Zenith Media and OMD in Singapore.

John Bright

John Bright was appointed Head of Digital at WhybinTBWATequila in Melbourne, Australia. Bright hails from the UK where he worked for POKE and Glue. His most recent position was Head of Digital at Leo Burnett Melbourne where he handle brands like Nintendo, Giant Bikes, Hallmark and Chrysler. In his 14 years of experience, he has also worked on accounts such as Orange, Yahoo, The British Royal Navy, T-Mobile and The Royal Mail.

Cowie appointed to Managing Director of TBWA-ICS

Aaron Cowie

Aaron Cowie has been appointed from Chief Operating Officer to Managing Director of TBWA-ISC in Malaysia and will report to the Asia Pacific regional management team.

Executive Vice President, Datuk Tim Garland has been named Capital Markets Communications Consultant to the Agency, focussing on the financial markets in the region.
