After several years of discussion and creation first in the Designers Association Singapore under the Presidency of Lawrence Chong and later when it evolved into Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS), the Singapore Good Design Mark (SG Mark) has been awarded. This SG Mark is awarded by DBCS to outstanding designs created by companies and individuals from Singapore and overseas. The inaugural awards were held on 13th March 2014. Out of the 63 awards, 21 went to Singapore developed designs. Five out of seven of the Platinum awards were won by local organisations. Seven out of nine Gold awards went to Singapore companies. The winning products included entries from the IT, lifestyle, healthcare and home appliance sectors. Many of the winners were on display at the newly opened Design Centre at a free exhibition.
