See the future in a house that TBWAHakuhodo in Japan has designed. Collaborating with twenty companies, the ad agency brought together new technology and inventions and build Mirai Nihon (“Future Japan”), a concept house where technology and nature can co-exist. The building works 100% off the grid, meaning it does not rely on electricity gas and water from the main supplies. For example, working with Nissan, they have integrated an electric car, the Nissan Leaf, that not only provides transportation but becomes a home power generator. The massive tsunami and earthquake that hit Japan in 2011 helped alter the views of the Japanese and made them realise how fragile was the infrastructure of modern society. This initiative by an advertising firm shows how our industry can harness its creativity to tackle social problems as well as meet sales targets.
