Mike Berry is a very experienced advertising and marketing man having worked for agencies such as Bozell, Wunderman and Euro RSCG after receiving his early career training at the premier marketing university – P&G. He now divides his time between consultancy work and training. He was speaking around the region recently and came to Singapore at the invitation of the 4As and the purse of SPH, the leading media company on the island. His show ‘The Best of Global Digital Marketing’ was held at the M Hotel on 18th November.
Berry was an excellent presenter and showed the audience many good examples of how agencies and clients use digital media to create successful campaigns (the work for Monoply and Tipp-Ex were outstanding) and as well as one or two failures.
He suggested the key to success for brands using Facebook was (1) First find insights that would drive the campaign, (2) Aim for simplicity and (3) Go for shareability – make it something people would want to share with friends and colleagues.

Following more advice on email campaigns by Berry in the afternoon, there was a panel discussion with locally-based experts such as Vaasu Gavarasana, digital strategist at Yahoo!, Marcus Tan, CEO of Smaato, Anol Bhattacharya, CEO of GetIT Comms and Willy Tan, who heads the interactive business at SPH.
It was a good initiative on the part of the Singapore 4As to organise this event. It was priced quite reasonably so attracted a good turnout to support Mike Berry and the other speakers.
