It’s hard to believe but the Spikes is 25 years old. Originally held in Hong Kong this creative show was organised by Media magazine. Today it has a new semi-permanent home in Singapore and Haymarket Press, publishers of Media (now retitled Campaign to bring it in line with the UK magazine) have linked up with Terry Savage and the Cannes Advertising Festival.

After a shaky start in Singapore in 2009, the organisers got their act together and produced a good show last year. This year should be even better. There is a long list of speakers who will be presenting or holding workshops over the three days. These include Luke Nathans, Regional Development Director of Iris, David Mayo of Ogilvy, a well-known figure in Singapore and the region, Shakir Moin, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola, Tay Guan Hin, Regional ECD at JWT Asia, Michael Wall, Global CEO of Lowe & Partners and, as a boit of light relief from the ad men Joel Cohen, writer and co-executive producer on The Simpsons.

The event kicks off on Sunday 18th September and goes on through to the 19th and 20th ending in the presentation of the creative awards and an After party sponsored by Leo Burnett. There are parties also on Sunday night (sponsored by TBWA) and on Monday where several agencies will open their doors to delegates.

This is an event you should try to attend.
